早餐不一定要往河滨挤。行程若经过 BDC，我会把 C3 Cafe 里的姐妹干盘面（Yong sisters’ Kampua Mee）当作一站：先选白干盘还是酱油干盘，再决定要不要加一份肉碎光饼分着吃。重点不是一次把整档都点齐，而是用两样食物认识这家人的福州手艺。

The family connection here is more than a name on a sign. Stephanie Yong and her elder sister learned the craft from their late father, who made Kampua Mee for over 50 years in Pulau Babi. Four of his seven children went on to carry the trade forward. The sisters’ BDC stall is a newer chapter in that story, not a claim that this particular counter has been here for decades.

Before the move into C3 Cafe, Stephanie spent more than 11 years helping her sister run a cafe in Kota Samarahan. That cafe closed in 2024; the sisters later returned to serving their family recipes at a stall in BDC. For a visitor, the practical point is to look for their own 姐妹 Kampua Mee sign inside the cafe, not assume every noodle counter belongs to the same operator.

Their Kampua Mee uses pork lard and fried shallot oil. The white version leaves out soya sauce, while the darker plate adds it. That makes the two plates an easy comparison for a shared breakfast: order one of each rather than expecting two completely different noodle dishes. Pork is part of the cooking, so this is not a choice for diners avoiding it.

The kompia give you another way into the same Foochow food tradition. These buns are fried and filled with minced pork; I would treat them as a shared side instead of automatically adding another full noodle plate. Dumplings are also part of the stall’s offering, but noodles plus kompia already make a clear starting order.

The stall’s listed service is 6am–1pm, closed Thursdays. I would make this a breakfast or early-lunch stop and check with the stall before setting out specifically for it: 016-872 1920. Keep the order simple on a first visit—one noodle style you want to understand, and kompia to share. Which would you start with: white Kampua or the soya-sauce plate?

砂拉越拟在2027年拨出约1600万令吉，为逾1400所学校添置互动智能白板；但宣布的覆盖条件是学校必须具备互联网连接。

《婆罗洲邮报》10月30日报道，砂看守总理在古晋Hikmah Exchange Event Centre举行的第33届砂总理特别奖暨2026年砂教育奖活动上说明这项计划，表示城市与乡区学校都在考虑范围内，前提是有网络。

因此，家长不能把这次宣布理解成每所学校已经配备白板，或已排定同一天交货。报道所说每台约1万令吉及总额约1600万令吉，是宣布中的成本估计，未附各校采购或安装时间表。

设备之外，教师能否使用也是课堂落实的关键。看守总理强调教师需要相应知识与数码技能，并鼓励运用Khan Academy等网上教学资源，辅助学生理解科学等科目。

对学校而言，网络条件与教学准备须放在一起看。报道未交代个别学校何时安装，也未宣布本计划会如何替尚无网络的学校补足连接；智能白板的覆盖目标不宜等同于全砂校园网络问题已解决。

Internet connectivity is a condition of Sarawak’s announced plan to equip more than 1,400 schools with interactive smartboards using an estimated RM16 million allocation next year.

The caretaker premier outlined the plan at the 33rd Premier of Sarawak Special Awards and Sarawak Education Awards 2026 at Hikmah Exchange Event Centre in Kuching, The Borneo Post reported on Oct 30. Urban and rural schools were both included in the stated ambition, provided they have internet access.

For parents and teachers, this is a proposed 2027 provision, not confirmation that every school already has a board or will receive one on a fixed delivery date. The reported figure of about RM10,000 per board is a current cost estimate, not a published school-by-school procurement schedule.

The announcement also put teacher readiness alongside the equipment. The caretaker premier said educators need the knowledge and digital skills to use the boards effectively, and encouraged greater use of online teaching resources such as Khan Academy.

That leaves two practical conditions for classroom use: a working internet connection and teachers able to integrate the equipment into lessons. The report did not specify installation dates for individual schools or a separate programme to connect schools without internet access.

美里新获的300万令吉排水改善拨款，不等于所有工程已开工。其中两项较大工程设计虽已备妥，仍须先完成招标。

Desa Senadin、Sungai Lutong以及Taman Tunku至Padang Kerbau路段的较长期排水改善计划，仍涉及公用设施问题及审批。居民可据此分清已完成保养、新拨款工程与长远规划；这次拨款不能被视为当地水患风险已经解除。

A RM3 million allocation for flood-prone parts of Miri includes two major drainage projects that still need to go through tender before work starts.

The funding will go through Miri City Council (MBM), with Desa Senadin, Permyjaya, Tudan and parts of Padang Kerbau named in the announcement. DayakDaily reported the details on Oct 30, citing the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) and the caretaker transport minister.

The planned packages include a RM1.17 million monsoon-drain upgrade along Jalan Desa Senadin, with a three-month implementation period, and RM1.26 million for maintaining and deepening earth drains along Jalan Miri–Kuala Baram over two months. Their technical designs are ready, but tendering comes before implementation.

A further RM562,390 package covers maintenance, dredging and clearing at residential drainage locations around Senadin, with a one-month implementation period. Those durations describe the work packages; they are not announced calendar completion dates.

Residents should also distinguish this allocation from work already finished. The Department of Irrigation and Drainage has separately completed 18 maintenance projects worth RM1.17 million, covering six retention ponds and 12 main drains. That identical RM1.17 million figure is not the new Jalan Desa Senadin contract.

Larger drainage proposals for Desa Senadin, Sungai Lutong and the Taman Tunku–Padang Kerbau stretch remain subject to utility issues and approvals. The new allocation is intended to reduce flood risk, not a declaration that those wider problems have been resolved.

The Batang Lupar 2 Bridge in Sri Aman is scheduled to open to the public on Saturday, Oct 31, adding another crossing to Sarawak’s road network.

The opening date was announced by Sarawak’s caretaker deputy premier at the Batang Paloh Bridge soft-opening ceremony on Oct 30, according to DayakDaily’s report citing the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).

For travellers, the distinction between the two projects matters. Batang Lupar 2 is the Sri Aman bridge scheduled for Oct 31; the ceremony where the announcement was made concerned Batang Paloh in the Daro area. The report’s RM299 million figure refers to Batang Paloh, not Batang Lupar 2.

The announcement sets out a planned opening day, not confirmation that vehicles are already crossing Batang Lupar 2 on Oct 30. No opening hour, vehicle restrictions or detailed traffic arrangements were provided in the report.

The bridge sits within the state’s wider connectivity programme, alongside the Coastal Road and Second Trunk Road. Its immediate practical milestone is public access on the announced date, rather than completion of the entire wider road network.

Pupils and parents using the roadside beside SJK Sungai Apong in Kuching now have a barrier between them and the deep drain.

Safety railings have been installed with funding from Kuching South City Council (MBKS), according to a council press release reported by DayakDaily on Oct 30. A council site assessment had identified the unprotected drain as a hazard, particularly when heavy rain raises the water level.

The work addresses a specific part of the school journey: the drain-side area used by families arriving at and leaving the school. It is a protective barrier, rather than a reported change to traffic flow, parking arrangements or school access.

MBKS placed the improvement under its work on Unicef’s Child Friendly Cities Initiative, which brings children’s safety into decisions about public infrastructure. The report did not give the length or cost of the railings, or an installation completion date; Oct 30 is the date of the published update and inspection photograph.

Planning a weekend grocery stop? Emart’s dated 30 October–1 November 2026 flyer lists two useful cooking staples in its Kuching & Samarahan section:

• Fresh chicken, economy cut: member price RM11.49/kg.
• China carrots: member price RM1.99/kg.

A basket with 1kg of each comes to RM13.48 at the advertised prices. That is a shopping-budget calculation, not a claimed saving against regular prices. For weighed portions, the final amount depends on the actual weight.

The flyer limits all member-price items to 2 units/kg per day. For these two weighed products, plan around a 2kg daily limit for each item. Emart also says it may reject bulk purchases, and each transaction allows at most two member cards per customer.

Participating local branches listed on the official promotion page include Matang, Batu Kawa, Tabuan Jaya and Summer Mall. Choose a listed branch rather than assuming the same offer is available at every Emart or express outlet. The flyer has a separate Miri & Bintulu panel; prices from that panel are not used here.

Use the dates printed on the actual flyer: Friday, 30 October through Sunday, 1 November 2026. These are member prices, so have your membership ready and check the shelf label and available stock before paying. If you only need a small quantity, a nearby participating branch makes more sense than driving across town for it.

朋岭码头小贩中心11个摊位迎来设施翻新，耗资29万8814令吉的提升工程已完成，并于10月30日由承包商交回古晋南市市政局。

这次改善不只是外墙重新上漆。工程包括更换屋顶及支撑结构、改善摊位内部与出餐区域，以及更换地砖、天花板、洗槽、铁闸和卷闸门，让摊贩日常作业及顾客用餐的空间一并提升。

工程从7月28日开始，原订10月27日完工，实际于10月20日完成，提早一周；10月30日是场地交接日，并非完工日。

古晋南市市长黄鸿圣（Wee Hong Seng）表示，中心自1989年设立以来，服务附近居民、工厂员工，以及从甘榜Muhibbah渡河往返的人。这让提升工程的直接意义落在日常吃饭、上班途中停留及小贩营生，而不只是旅游包装。

南市也希望把小贩中心与附近的日军投降纪念碑串联，吸引访客顺道用餐。不过，增加客流及收入仍是市政局期望，不能视为工程完工后已经取得的成效。市长同时促请摊贩保持清洁、清楚标价。

Pending Jetty Hawker Centre has been handed back to Kuching South City Council after a RM298,814 upgrade, with work finished on Oct 20 — a week before its deadline.

The contractor handed over the site on Oct 30. That is the handover date, rather than the date construction ended. Works had begun on July 28 and were scheduled to finish on Oct 27.

For the centre’s 11 stalls and their customers, the changes are practical: a replacement roof and supporting structure, improvements to stall interiors and serving areas, and replacement tiles, ceilings, sinks, grilles and roller shutters. External walls were also repainted.

Kuching South mayor Wee Hong Seng said the centre has served nearby residents, factory workers and people crossing from Kampung Muhibbah since 1989. The investment therefore affects an everyday food stop as well as the council’s plans to draw more visitors to Pending Jetty.

MBKS hopes the hawker centre and the nearby monument commemorating the Japanese armed forces’ surrender can complement one another. More visitors and higher hawker earnings remain the council’s aims, not measured results of the completed works. Wee also urged traders to keep stalls clean and display prices clearly.

The Batang Paloh Bridge opened to traffic on Oct 30, replacing the ferry crossing used by motorists travelling between Mukah and Tanjung Manis.

For coastal-road users, the immediate change is a fixed road crossing in place of a ferry-dependent link. The opening ends ferry services at this crossing; it does not mean all ferry crossings elsewhere on Sarawak’s coastal route have been replaced.

DayakDaily, citing the Sarawak Public Works Department, reported that the RM298.98 million bridge was opened through a soft-opening ceremony and symbolic release of traffic.

The two-lane bridge is 1.7km long. Its approach-road works cover another 1.71km on the Pulau Bruit side and 2.932km on the Tanjung Manis side — separate figures from the bridge’s own length.

The new link gives residents and motorists a direct land crossing over Batang Paloh. Wider benefits for trade, agriculture and tourism along the coastal corridor are expected, but no quantified journey-time saving was stated in the report.

Repairs to the 750mm water main on Jalan Lapangan Terbang were completed at 2am on Oct 30, but normal pressure will not return to every affected household at once.

Sarawak Water said valves were being reopened and the network pressurised, with supply recovering in stages. The affected area includes the Datuk Muda Tank supply zone, Jalan Lapangan Terbang, Jalan Tun Jugah, Jalan Batu Lintang and nearby neighbourhoods.

For residents checking their taps, the important distinction is between a repaired main and a fully recovered distribution network. Higher ground and homes towards the ends of pipelines may wait longer for normal pressure, the utility said.

The interruption had initially been estimated to run from 4.30pm on Oct 29 to 5am on Oct 30. Completion of the repair at 2am is not a guarantee that every property had water by that time.

Sarawak Water warned that returning water could temporarily look discoloured or milky because of disturbed sediment or trapped air. It advised consumers to run an external tap for a few minutes until the water is completely clear before using it for cooking, drinking or washing. The utility said it would continue monitoring recovery.

去民都鲁，我会故意留一段没有排节目的傍晚。Tanjung Batu Beach 不需要塞进一整套活动：沿海边走一小段，找个地方坐坐，等天色慢慢换掉，再回市区吃晚餐。对已经在民都鲁过夜的人来说，这种不用赶下一站的空档，反而比多打一个卡更有用。

这里让我愿意停下来的，是海边那几处长着树的岩石小突出地形。白天能看清沙、水和石头之间的层次，到了夕阳下，树影就成了画面的主角。我会留在岸上找角度，不为了拍到同一张照片爬上湿滑石头。景色是来看、来慢慢等的，不必把靠近海浪当成完成任务。

它首先是一处本地休闲海滩，不是需要特别登岛的度假行程。海岸一带有售卖食物和饮料的摊位，椰子饮料也是这里的选择之一。不过，我不会为了某一个摊位特地空着肚子来；各摊的营业时间和价格会变，买得到就添一点野餐气氛，正餐还是另外安排比较轻松。

把视线拉开，比只盯着夕阳更容易决定怎么逛。我会先留约45分钟至一小时，散步、坐一下，再看大家的体力和天气决定要不要待久一点。这是我自己的行程分配，不是规定参观时间，也不是要求每个人走完某条路线。同行有人想多走，有人只想坐着，就先约好集合点，没必要全组一起赶路。

带孩子来，我会把重点放在岸上：看海、喝水、拍几张照片，走动时彼此照应。照片里的海面平静，不代表当天适合下水；这里也不需要靠游泳、浮潜或租船才算玩到。现场若有警示或管理人员指示，照着做就好。遇到风浪、下雨或雷声，取消看日落并不扫兴，比硬撑着等一张照片值得。

我也不会拿照片里的颜色替当天许愿。白天和黄昏各有不同的海岸样子，潮位、云层和光线一变，画面自然不同。阴天仍然可以来歇一歇，只是如果整趟行程非得拍到橙红天空才满意，期望就放得太满了。带好饮用水、防晒用品，靠近石岸时也别为了方便拍照脱掉鞋子。

如果已经住在民都鲁，我会把这里独立排成晚餐前的小停留，海边散步结束再吃饭。从古晋出发，则适合放进民都鲁过夜行程，不为这一段海岸专程长途来回。它补的是一段放空时间，不是用来代替一整天的森林或自然探索。

导航请找 Pantai Tanjung Batu Bintulu，地点是97000 Bintulu，Sarawak。Google Maps：民都鲁 Tanjung Batu Beach。出门前看一眼天气，也先安排好回程，尤其打算留到天色暗下来时。马来西亚不止一处相似地名，设好导航再走，别只输入Tanjung Batu就出发。

如果是我，会趁还有日光先选个舒服的位置，再让当晚的天气决定停留多久。你会带一点野餐食物来，还是把肚子留给市区晚餐？

I would leave the last part of a Bintulu afternoon unbooked. At Tanjung Batu Beach, the useful attraction is not a long list of activities but the chance to stop moving: a short shoreline walk, somewhere to sit, and an open view of the sea before dinner. For a visitor passing through town, that is a better fit than trying to turn every spare hour into another excursion.

The small tree-covered rocky outcrops give this stretch its character. In daylight, they break up the view between sand, stone and water; against an evening sky, the trees become silhouettes. I would use them as a reason to slow down rather than as a target to scramble towards. A photograph taken from the shore can tell the story without anyone needing to step onto wet rocks.

This is a recreational beach in Bintulu, not a remote island escape. The appeal is that locals and visitors can use the same modest stretch of coast for a picnic or an easy pause. Food and drink stalls are part of the beach strip, including coconut drinks. I would treat anything bought there as an optional extra, not plan dinner around a particular stall being open: individual trading hours and prices can change.

That wider view is useful when deciding how much time to give the stop. I would allow around 45 minutes to an hour for a gentle walk and a sit, then leave the rest flexible. That is my itinerary choice, not a fixed walking route or an official visit duration. If someone in the group wants a longer walk, agree on a meeting point rather than making everyone complete the same distance.

For families, I would favour the landward part of the outing: looking at the coast, having a drink, taking a few photographs and staying together. Calm-looking water in a photograph is not a swimming-safety assessment. I would not make swimming, snorkelling or boat hire the purpose of this visit, and would follow any signs or instructions on site.
