10月17日下午4时，古晋空气污染指数（API）为71点，比中午的65点上升；砂拉越21个监测站当时全部处于中等水平。
《婆罗洲邮报》引述砂拉越天然资源与环境局的空气指数更新报道，同一时段西连为79点、三马拉汉77点、伦杜73点。木中报84点，是报道中最高的读数。
各站同属中等水平，不表示走势完全相同。古晋与三马拉汉的读数在下午上升，美里则从中午71点降至69点，林梦从52点降至51点。加帛中午仍属良好，读数49点，至下午4时升至53点，转入中等范围。
空气指数0至50点属于良好，51至100点属于中等。这份更新记录的是17日下午4时的情况，并非晚间或隔日的预报。居民若要判断稍后出行或户外活动时的空气状况，仍须查看较新的官方读数，不能把下午的数据当成即时情况。
