第一次走古晋老城，我会从河滨接上海唇街 Main Bazaar，再转进亚答街 Carpenter Street。五脚基的有盖走道比较能应付烈日和突然的雨。海唇街沿河发展，是旧古晋的商业边缘；亚答街保留手艺、饮食和家族生意。1884 年古晋大火烧毁这里 135 间房屋，重建后的街排才形成今天看到的景象。
