如果诗巫这一天已经排了早餐、逛市场和拉让江边散步，我会留一小段时间给新珠安。不是再找一个“大景点”，而是去乃裳公园，把黄乃裳这个名字，跟一条河、一处早期聚落接起来。

这里适合慢慢看，却不适合抱着“要玩半天”的期待。真正值得停下来的，不是设施有多少，而是纪念像为什么会放在这片河边。

我会先从铜像前面开始。人物后方是一道弯曲的纪念墙，墙面有中文文字；前面则是层层展开的草地与铺面。别急着把镜头贴到铜像上，退后一点，把墙、人物和周围空间一起看，比较容易明白这不是一座孤零零摆在路旁的雕像。

1901年，黄乃裳带领福州移民从中国来到诗巫。新珠安与这段早期落脚、开垦的历史相连，公园也以纪念他为出发点。对我来说，这就是值得绕过来的理由：纪念人物不是抽象的“先贤”，而是跟附近的河流、聚落有实际关系的人。

如果带家人来，我会把“当年为什么沿着河来到这里”当成聊天的开头。站在纪念像附近，再转身看向河道，迁移与定居就不只剩下一串年份。这样看，公园就不只是一个打卡点。河流与聚落的位置关系，比一口气记住很多年份更容易留下印象。

接着可以换一个角度看纪念墙。它的线条把文字、人物和小广场收在同一个空间里。我反而不建议一到就忙着拍完每个角落，选一个能同时看到铜像、墙面和河边方向的位置，先弄懂它们的关系。这一站不是走进大型展馆读完一整套展览，而是在户外用一小段步行，把诗巫的福州背景放回具体地方。

往河边走，纪念空间又跟周围的日常生活接上。邻近有店屋、有居民使用的地方，不是整个地区都只为游客而设。我喜欢这种历史没有被完全隔离起来的感觉；但拍照也要有分寸，别把正在吃东西的人拍成主角，也别挡着别人出入店铺。

第一次来，我会选白天。原因很简单：比较容易看墙上的文字、铜像的方向，以及公园和河流的位置关系。行程不必排得太满，把这里当成认识新珠安的一段短停，比硬凑成半日游更舒服。普通的防晒、防雨准备带着，过马路、靠近水边时放慢脚步，只走现场开放的步道。

夜景照片可以让人看见另一种空间气氛，却不代表每天都有同样的灯光安排。若你只冲着某种灯光秀而来，这里未必符合期待；如果你对“诗巫为什么有这么深的福州印记”感兴趣，这个停靠点反而有意思。

我会推荐给喜欢地方历史、愿意在小地方多停几分钟的人。看铜像、读一段纪念墙，再往新珠安河方向走，不必硬找刺激活动。离开时能把黄乃裳、早期聚落与河流连在一起，这一站就已经值回那段绕路。

If your Sibu itinerary already has a market breakfast and a walk by the Rajang, I would give Sungai Merah a different job: a short stop to understand how a riverside settlement became part of the town's story. Wong Nai Siong Memorial Garden is not a big landscaped attraction to spend half a day in. Its strongest feature is the connection between one man's memorial, a riverbank and the community around them.

Start with the bust rather than a long checklist of photo spots. Behind it, the curved memorial wall carries Chinese writing; in front, shallow grass-covered tiers step down towards the paved space. The scale is useful. You can look at the figure and the surroundings together instead of treating the monument as an isolated object. I would pause here before walking towards the river, because the water gives the memorial its context.

Wong Nai Siong led Foochow settlers from China to Sibu in 1901, and Sungai Merah is associated with that early settlement and landing. The garden was created in his honour. That relationship is the reason I would make this detour: the memorial is attached to a place in the migration story, not simply to a famous name placed in any available square. The bust identifies the person; the river helps explain why the settlement formed here.

You do not need to turn the stop into a lecture. If you are travelling with family, a useful question is what the river meant before the road journey became the obvious way to think about getting here. Looking from the memorial towards the channel makes the settlement story easier to picture. It shifts the conversation away from collecting another landmark and towards the practical relationship between a river and a new community.

The wall's form matters as much as the bust. It brings a line of writing into the same view as a small open public space. Rather than rushing to photograph every panel, I would choose one position where the wall, figure and riverbank make sense together. Visitors who enjoy local history will get more from that slow look than anyone expecting a large museum with a long indoor exhibition. This is an outdoor memorial garden, and I would plan it that way.

A walk towards the riverside then changes the scale of the visit. Shopfronts and everyday activity sit close to the memorial precinct. That makes the stop more interesting to me than a monument cut off from the town: the history is surrounded by an inhabited neighbourhood. It also calls for a little restraint. Leave space for people going about their day, keep photography away from identifiable diners and do not treat neighbouring businesses as part of a free attraction.

For a first visit I would choose daylight, then keep the route short enough to fit around the rest of Sibu rather than build the whole day around it. Daylight makes the writing, the bust and the relationship with the river easier to follow. Bring ordinary sun and rain protection, take care at road crossings and the water's edge, and use the paths that are actually open when you arrive. A photograph of an illuminated riverbank is not a reason to assume a particular evening display will be operating.

I would send a history-minded visitor here, especially someone curious about Sibu's Foochow roots. I would not sell it as a major theme park, a guaranteed night attraction or a substitute for the town's museums. The worthwhile part is smaller and more specific: spend time at the bust, turn towards Sungai Merah, and leave with a clearer relationship between a person, a settlement and a river.

《婆罗洲邮报》引述砂拉越天然资源与环境局的空污指数资料报道，西连同一时段录得50点，仍在良好范围；伦乐为56点，属于中等。古晋与周边地区的读数并不一致，不能用一个站点概括所有地方。

空污指数0至50点属良好，51至100点属中等。古晋的52点略高于良好水平上限，西连则处于良好范围的上缘；比较两地时，应连同分类界线一起看。

砂州其他站点方面，布拉甲为33点，Samalaju为71点。以上都是星期四早上8时的记录，不是全天空气状况预测。之后查看指数，应核对所在地区的监测站及更新时间，避免把早间读数当成接下来整天不变的情况。

Kuching recorded an Air Pollutant Index of 52 at 8am on Thursday, Oct 29, placing it in the moderate category rather than the good category.

Nearby stations did not all give the same picture. Samarahan registered 37 and Serian 50, both within the good range, while Lundu stood at 56, also moderate. The Borneo Post reported the figures from the Natural Resources and Environment Board’s Sarawak API status report.

The boundary matters when comparing the numbers: readings from 0 to 50 are classified as good, and 51 to 100 as moderate. Kuching was therefore just above the good-air threshold; its reading should not be substituted for Samarahan’s or treated as a single measure for the whole area.

Elsewhere in the state, Belaga recorded 33 and Samalaju 71. These figures describe the 8am monitoring snapshot, not conditions guaranteed for the rest of Thursday. Anyone following changes through the day should compare the relevant station and reporting time, rather than read the morning figure as an all-day forecast.

财政部10月28日公布的新一周油价，两种无补贴汽油各涨10仙。RON97原价为4.80令吉，无补贴RON95原价为4.32令吉。古晋车主星期四起添油，须先分清购买的是哪一种汽油，以及是否属于合资格补贴交易。

以同样添50公升计算，无补贴汽油这次涨价会多付5令吉：RON97由240令吉增至245令吉，无补贴RON95则由216令吉增至221令吉。这是按相同添油量计算的价差，并非车辆耗油量改变。

BUDI95的补贴价没有随无补贴RON95上涨。财政部说明，符合资格的大马人可继续使用MyKad购买补贴燃油，但须受每月资格额度限制。若交易符合条件且仍在额度内，50公升BUDI95按每公升1.99令吉计算，为99.50令吉。

The Finance Ministry’s Oct 28 announcement sets a 10-sen increase for each unsubsidised petrol grade, from RM4.80 for RON97 and RM4.32 for RON95. The new weekly rates take effect on Thursday and also apply to petrol purchases in Kuching.

For a 50-litre purchase, that increase adds RM5: RON97 costs RM245 instead of RM240, while unsubsidised RON95 costs RM221 instead of RM216. The calculation compares the same volume at the old and new rates, not a change in how much fuel a vehicle uses.

The higher RON95 headline price is not the amount charged for an eligible subsidised BUDI95 purchase. The ministry says eligible Malaysians can continue buying subsidised fuel using MyKad, subject to their monthly eligibility limits. At RM1.99 a litre, 50 litres of BUDI95 would cost RM99.50, provided the purchase remains within those limits.

美里柏迈区英达路第三巷（Jalan Indah 3）约360公尺道路已完成重铺，工程耗资约30万令吉，比原定11月20日完工的目标提早。

对柏迈居民而言，目前明确完成的是这段道路的重铺；周边排水工程接下来如何落实，仍是另一项进度。不能仅凭路面完工，就认定整个地区的积水问题已经解决。

A 360-metre resurfacing job on Jalan Indah 3 in Miri’s Permai area has been completed, ahead of its original Nov 20 finishing target.

See Hua Daily News reported on Oct 28 that the roughly RM300,000 project had reached 100 per cent completion after work began on Sept 21. Miri City Council officers accompanied an inspection of the finished section on Wednesday.

The road is in an area affected by flooding earlier this year, but the completed surface is only one part of the infrastructure response. The report also described drain clearing and drainage improvements, including the removal of about 20 trees that had obstructed drainage or maintenance access.

A separate RM3 million allocation has been approved for basic infrastructure and drainage improvements in communities previously hit by serious flooding. Those works were expected to begin progressively in the coming weeks; the report did not present them as already finished.

For Permai residents, the distinction is between a specific road section now resurfaced and wider drainage work still to be delivered. Completion of the 360-metre job does not, on its own, establish that the surrounding flood problems have been resolved.

黑豆子的故事始于2001年。创办人Mdm Han与Mr Chang亲自烘焙咖啡，也负责训练咖啡师；比起装潢，这份从烘焙到冲煮的延续，才是认识它的好起点。

现在品牌的烘焙工作设在Tabuan Jaya总部，不要把友海街的小店理解成所有咖啡都在眼前现烘。它另有分店，La Promenade那家较大的空间也有餐食，但分店菜单与营业时间不能直接套用到老街87号。走路逛市区的旅人，选这里，重点是位置顺路，以及能把砂拉越咖啡喝进这趟行程。

我会先问本地豆，再决定喝法

想尝试本地风格，我会先问当天有什么砂拉越Liberica选择，再决定喝黑咖啡还是加奶。偏爱甜一点、奶感路线的，可以留意gula apong latte：这款把砂拉越Liberica、Robusta与本地棕榈糖结合起来，不必只按平常的拿铁习惯下单。

店里也提供进口产区咖啡，所以点单时说清楚自己想试本地豆，还是偏向熟悉的喝法，会比单看饮品名称有用。若准备带咖啡豆回家，我会多问一句烘焙程度与适合的研磨方式，让选择配合自己的冲煮器具；实际豆款和价格以柜台当天供应为准。

这站不一定要排成完整早午餐。点一杯咖啡，把胃口留给老街其他小吃，反而比较好安排，也不用为了凑齐一桌而点与自己口味无关的东西。

别留到晚上才来

友海街店一般是星期一至六约早上9点至傍晚6点的白天营业安排，星期日休息；专程前往或遇到公共假期，出发前再确认。我会先喝咖啡，再往河滨方向散步，不把这家店当作夜间续摊地点。导航时也要认准友海街，而不是其他同名分店。

A walk around Kuching's Old Bazaar does not need to end with another generic café stop. At No. 87, Ewe Hai Street, Black Bean Coffee & Tea Co. gives the coffee itself a local connection: Sarawak-grown Liberica, alongside Robusta and other beans. I would put this on a daytime Chinatown wander rather than save it for an after-dinner drink.

A roastery story behind the small shop

Black Bean's story goes back to 2001. Founders Madam Han and Mr Chang built the business around personally roasting coffee and training its baristas. That matters more here than a long list of café decorations: this is a Sarawak roastery with a shop where you can explore what goes into the cup.

The roasting operation is based at the company's Tabuan Jaya headquarters. Do not confuse that with the Ewe Hai Street counter, or assume that the larger La Promenade outlet's food menu and opening hours apply to this Old Bazaar stop. For a visitor on foot, the useful choice is the central location and the chance to make local coffee part of the walk.

Start with the bean, then choose the drink

I would begin by asking which Sarawak Liberica option is available that day. If you prefer milk and sweetness, the gula apong latte brings together Sarawak Liberica, Robusta and local palm sugar. It is a different starting point from ordering a familiar imported single-origin coffee; Black Bean offers those too, so tell the staff whether your priority is exploring local beans or sticking with your usual style.

For a coffee-focused stop, keep the order simple and leave room for the rest of your Old Bazaar food walk. There is no need to turn it into a full brunch itinerary. If you want beans to take home, ask about the roast and the grind for your own brewing method rather than choosing only by the bag's appearance. Drink prices and available beans should be checked at the counter.

Make it a daytime stop

The Ewe Hai Street shop is a daytime operation, generally around 9am–6pm Monday to Saturday and closed on Sunday. Recheck before making a special trip, especially on public holidays. I would fit it before an afternoon walk towards the Waterfront, not build an evening plan around it. This recommendation is for the No. 87 shop, not another Black Bean branch.

砂拉越正把人工智能（AI）与数码化内容纳入师训学院课程，协助教师运用新科技；不过，已经接受相关训练的教师人数仍不足，课堂应用能力还须继续建立。

《婆罗洲邮报》10月28日报道，砂教育、创新及人才发展看守部长在古晋Raia酒店主持第四届国际教育研究与创新大会开幕后，向记者说明这项方向。他表示，相关内容正引入各师训学院课程，学校也已开始推动。

课程纳入新内容，与每所学校都已有足够受训教师，是两个不同阶段。部长承认人手培训仍不足，因此不能把这次说明理解为所有教师都已完成训练，或全州课堂已经同步落实相同的科技应用。

对学校和家长而言，现阶段重点是教师如何获得运用科技的能力。报道没有列出已完成培训的人数，也没有公布各校须在何时配齐受训教师；这并不是为学生新增一项独立AI考试的公告。

Sarawak is bringing artificial intelligence and digitalisation into teacher-training syllabuses, while acknowledging that the pool of teachers trained to use the technology is still insufficient.

The state’s caretaker education, innovation and talent development minister outlined the move to reporters after opening the fourth International Conference on Educational Research and Innovation at Raia Hotel in Kuching, The Borneo Post reported on Oct 28.

He said the subjects were being introduced across teacher-training institute syllabuses to help educators use the technology in their work. He also said the initiative was already being introduced in schools.

The training shortfall is an important limit on what that announcement means for classrooms: inclusion in a syllabus and a teacher’s readiness to apply it are not the same milestone. The remarks did not set out how many teachers had completed training or a date by which all schools would have trained staff.

For schools and families, this is a change in teacher preparation rather than an announcement of a new standalone AI examination for pupils. The immediate task described by the minister is to build educators’ capacity as technology is introduced, not to treat the rollout as already complete.

马来西亚液化天然气公司（MLNG）通过社区安全计划，向民都鲁、实包勿及达岛一带100个村落捐赠共300具灭火器，配合防火及紧急事故应对教育。

DayakDaily引述TVS报道，这项MLNG健康、安全与环境社区活动10月28日在民都鲁举行，内容包括工业安全、紧急应变程序，以及社区共同承担的安全责任。

300具是三个地区合计的捐赠数量，并不是每村获300具，也不能据此理解为每户家庭都会获发一具。报道没有逐一列出受惠村落及各村的分配数量。

MLNG在活动中强调，安全意识须持续培养，包括提供准确信息、反复训练及有组织地行动；产业界、政府、教育机构与社区之间的合作，也有助居民认识工业及环境风险。

对参与村落而言，器材与应变知识须相互配合。这次活动记录的是社区准备工作，不能当作所有居民已完成训练的证明，也不是正在发生工业事故或需要疏散的警报。

One hundred villages across Bintulu, Sebauh and Tatau are receiving a combined 300 fire extinguishers through an MLNG community-safety initiative.

DayakDaily reported the donation on Oct 28, citing TVS coverage of the Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd HSE Community Programme in Bintulu that day. The programme addressed industrial safety, emergency procedures and the community’s role in preparedness.

The equipment total covers the three areas together. It should not be read as 300 units for each village or as confirmation that every household is being supplied. The report did not give a village-by-village allocation.

MLNG emphasised that safety awareness needs to be sustained through accurate information, continued training and organised action, with industry, government, educational institutions and communities working together.

For the participating villages, the practical value is a combination of equipment and understanding how emergency arrangements work. The donation does not by itself establish that every resident has completed training, nor is the programme a notice of an industrial accident or a current evacuation.

砂拉越土著企业可关注国家企业机构（PUNB）拟于2027年1月推出的PROSPER GROW PLUS融资计划，金额介于100万至1000万令吉，用于提升技术、自动化及营运资金能力。

《婆罗洲邮报》报道，计划在10月28日于古晋举行的砂拉越企业家交流活动上介绍，融资期限最长7年，年固定盈利率为3.5%。这些是已公布的计划条件，不等于每家企业都可直接获批最高额度。

PUNB希望协助本地土著中小企业进入能源、高科技制造及基础设施等较高价值的供应链，并通过产业合作，帮助业者达到采购、技术及安全要求。融资以外，企业的技术和管理能力也是参与这些供应链的一部分。

计划预定明年1月推介，详细资格和条件届时才公布；目前不能把预告写成已经开放申请。2027年财政预算案下PUNB的5亿令吉拨款，也是机构整体融资安排，并非专供砂州的5亿令吉补助金。

Sarawak Bumiputera businesses are among those expected to benefit from PUNB’s PROSPER GROW PLUS scheme, with financing of RM1 million to RM10 million planned from January 2027.

The scheme was outlined at the Sarawak State Entrepreneurs Networking Programme in Kuching on Oct 28. The Borneo Post reported a flat profit rate of 3.5 per cent a year and a financing tenure of up to seven years.

The intended uses include improving technical capability, adopting automation and meeting working-capital needs. PUNB wants local firms to progress into higher-value supply chains linked to energy, manufacturing and infrastructure, rather than remain confined to conventional subcontracting.

For prospective applicants, January is the planned launch, not a claim that applications are already open. PUNB said further details and eligibility criteria would be announced at the launch; an announced financing range does not guarantee approval for an individual company.

The corporation’s RM500 million allocation under Budget 2027 is a wider funding allocation, not a RM500 million grant reserved for Sarawak. Businesses can seek information from PUNB’s regional office at Wisma Wan Abu Bakar, Jalan Kulas in Kuching, or its Miri branch at Marina Parkcity, Miri Times Square.

石隆门SMK Lake耗资7880万令吉的重建项目10月28日在学校移交，设施包括42间课室，以及可容纳300名学生的宿舍。工程分期进行，施工期间教学并未因此全面停顿。

据DayakDaily报道，马来西亚公共工程局说明，项目从2023年1月展开，分成两个阶段实施。新校舍施工时，学生继续使用旧建筑上课，校方、承包商与顾问须协调工程及日常教学安排。

其中，第一期工程已在今年8月17日取得部分入伙证书（CPO）。这项较早的使用里程碑，与10月28日的项目移交不是同一件事，不宜把移交日期一概理解为全部设施首次启用的日期。

对家长而言，新增设施与招生安排也须分开看：300人指宿舍可容纳的人数，并不是校方宣布开放300个新学额。公共工程局也强调，工程出现问题时，应明确负责单位、处理行动及后续跟进，直到确认问题解决。

SMK Lake in Bau has received a RM78.8 million redevelopment that includes 42 classrooms and hostel accommodation for 300 students, after construction was staged around continuing lessons.

The project was handed over at the school on Oct 28, DayakDaily reported. JKR Malaysia said work began in January 2023 and was divided into two phases so pupils could remain in the old buildings while new blocks were built.

For families, the important distinction is between the facilities provided and the number of places actually available for admission. The 300-student figure describes hostel accommodation; it is not an announcement of 300 new vacancies or a new intake.

The first phase received its Certificate of Partial Occupation on Aug 17, 2026. That earlier milestone and the Oct 28 handover are separate dates in the project’s delivery, rather than evidence that every part first opened on the same day.

JKR said the design-and-build project required close coordination between the contractor, consultants and school management to limit disruption. Its account also stressed assigning responsibility and following up construction issues until their resolution is confirmed.

If groceries are already on your Wednesday list, Emart’s 28 October offer is worth checking before choosing a branch. It is a one-day members’ promotion at nine named Kuching-area outlets—not a chainwide price list.

The four advertised items are:

• China wongbok: RM3.49/kg, limit 2kg.
• Potatoes: RM1.59/kg, limit 2kg.
• Swiftlet Premium White Rice, 10kg: RM24.99 per bag, limit 2 bags.
• Colgate Triple Action toothpaste, 2 × 175g: RM10.99 per twin pack, limit 2 packs.

For a quick shopping budget, 1kg of wongbok plus 1kg of potatoes comes to RM5.08. Add one 10kg rice bag and the basket is RM30.07; adding the toothpaste twin pack brings it to RM41.06. These are sums of the advertised prices, not a claimed saving against regular prices. The rice works out to about RM2.50/kg, useful when comparing bags of different sizes.

Choose a participating outlet: Taman Berlian, Boulevard Kuching, King Centre, Moyan, Sejingkat, Summer Mall, Tabuan Jaya, Batu Kawa or Matang. Do not assume another Emart branch has the same offer.

Valid Wednesday, 28 October 2026 only. The flyer sets a daily limit of 2 units/kg per member for the relevant items. Have your membership ready and confirm remaining stock and the shelf price before paying; no live stock count is provided. There is little reason to make a separate cross-town trip for a small vegetable basket, but the rice may be useful if you already need a bag.
