When a Kuching landmark looks like a giant umbrella hovering above Jalan Taman Budaya, I want to see it at walking speed, not just from a passing car. Kuching Civic Centre works well as a city-history stop: the building opened on 1 August 1988, spent years looking neglected, and has now entered a new chapter after restoration.

The 74-metre structure and its viewing platform were designed to give broad views over Kuching, Mount Serapi and Mount Santubong. Older descriptions still say the tower has been closed for years, so they should not be treated as the current visit plan.
