A 67-year-old man was killed after his car crashed into the back of a stationary four-wheel-drive at the traffic light junction along Jalan Sekama yesterday afternoon.
According to Kuching District Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the accident happened around 12.20pm on June 23. A Mitsubishi Triton had stopped at a red light when a Proton Saga allegedly lost control from behind and slammed into it.
The 70-year-old driver of the Triton was unharmed, but the 67-year-old Proton Saga driver was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical assistant from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
The victim's body has been sent to SGH's Forensic Department for a post-mortem.
Both vehicles have been towed to the Kuching Traffic Police Station for inspection. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 — causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
