If a lunch route takes you through Jalan Ang Cheng Ho, I would make Kong Yik Cafe a short, deliberate stop rather than treat it as just another rice stall. The useful question here is how a cafe that began in post-war Padungan still keeps one family’s roast pork, braised pork and chicken dishes at the centre of its daily rhythm. [image: 1789967574159-bk2.jpeg] Source: DayakDaily The Curry Rice (Mix) Special is a sensible first order because it shows how the stall’s roast and braised meats sit alongside the curry-chicken side of the menu. Kong Yik’s story starts in 1946, when it was one of three Padungan restaurants established by a benevolent society helping the Chinese community rebuild after the Second World War. Boon Ah Loke, a Hainanese ice-cream seller before the war, was asked to manage the restaurant; his son later learned the trade from him, and Boon Kim Seng is now the third generation carrying it forward. That history is not only a date on the signboard. Boon says the roast pork, braised pork and chicken dishes served today follow the same recipes from the restaurant’s beginning. He has been making them since leaving school at 17, and still handles the cutting and the cooking himself—barbecuing or braising the pork and preparing the chicken rather than handing the signature work to someone else. [image: 1789967574230-bk7.jpeg] Source: DayakDaily Kong Yik stayed in Padungan for 61 years before moving to No. 3 Jalan Ang Cheng Ho in 2007, when the family downsized the restaurant into a cafe. Boon’s wife, Adeline Yii, helps run the front stall, while the couple keeps the older recipes in the lunch service. I would choose the roast-pork or mixed rice route if the point is to understand the cafe’s identity; the broader menu is useful for a table that wants different plates, but the family’s preserved meat dishes are the reason this stop has a story. The published service window is 9:30am–2pm daily except Tuesday, so this is a compact late-morning or lunch visit, not an evening plan. Kong Yik Cafe No. 3 Jalan Ang Cheng Ho, Kuching Open Kong Yik Cafe in Google Maps I would remember Kong Yik for the continuity: a post-war community project became a family cafe, moved with the city’s eating habits, and still asks its third-generation cook to do the parts that define the plate.

If I were planning a morning food stop through Third Mile, I would leave room for a small plate at Chai's Chai Kuih rather than treating it as an afterthought. The stall sits inside Dragon Village Cafe at Maong Bazaar, where the useful decision is not which oversized meal to add, but which filling you want to carry into the rest of the morning. [image: 1789960201198-p2.jpeg] Source: DayakDaily The maker, Chai Siaw Foong, is a 64-year-old Hakka artisan who has been making these savoury dumplings daily for more than 18 years. That long run is only part of the story: she learned the work young by helping her family, especially her mother, prepare the dumplings and their fillings. The stall is therefore carrying a household practice into a fixed breakfast stop, not simply selling a generic steamed snack. The skins are soft, glossy and translucent, while the choice inside changes the character of the plate. Chai prepares fillings of jicama, fermented salted vegetables, bean curd, bamboo shoots and peanuts. I would start with two different fillings so the contrast is clear, then add another only if the table is being shared. [image: 1789960201266-p3.jpeg] Source: DayakDaily This is an early stop, not a late-lunch plan: the stall opens from 6am to 11am daily except Monday. Chai also takes pre-orders for celebrations and festivals, which explains why the dumplings can work both as a quick cafe-side breakfast and as a traditional snack ordered for a gathering. The trade-off is simple—arrive in the morning and choose from the day's fillings, or miss the window entirely. Chai's Chai Kuih is at Dragon Village Cafe, Maong Bazaar, Third Mile Commercial Centre, Kuching. Open in Google Maps For me, the reason to remember this stall is the hand-made connection behind each variation: a family lesson has become an 18-year morning routine, while the fillings keep the old snack flexible enough for regular customers and younger eaters.

A useful Kuching chicken-rice stop is not always the one with the loudest reputation. At World Cafe, the more interesting detail is the long kitchen apprenticeship behind the plate: Lee Siew Chiann began working in her family's bakery and coffee shop as a teenager, then spent three years refining her Hainanese-style chicken rice before making it her own. [image: 1789821413064-chicken-rice.jpeg] DayakDaily The practical order is simple—steamed chicken with savoury rice, dipping sauce and soup—so the difference is in consistency rather than a crowded menu. Lee still handles the kitchen, while her daughter manages the cafe operations, keeping the preparation within the family. [image: 1789821413431-storefront.jpeg] DayakDaily World Cafe first served the dish from a Green Hill stall, moved to a food court on Ban Hock Road, and opened its own cafe at Central Park Commercial Centre in 2004. That route gives the meal a useful sense of place: it is a family recipe that moved with its customers instead of staying tied to one old address. World Cafe is at Central Park Commercial Centre, Kuching, and operates daily from 6am to 4pm except Thursday. Open World Cafe in Google Maps I would come for an early lunch, start with the steamed chicken thigh or drumstick, and keep room for the savoury rice and sauce rather than over-ordering around the main plate.

For a pre-dawn bowl in Kota Padawan, Swee Sen Cafe is the kind of stop where the family story begins before the first plate reaches the table. The cafe started in 1962, and Jeffrey Cheng took over the business in 1978 after growing up around his parents' noodle trade. [image: 1789821368116-kolo-mee-ingredients.jpeg] DayakDaily The kolo mee is the natural starting point, but the useful detail is the range that grew around it: the cafe's earlier draw included noodles with prawns, fish balls and char siew. I would come early rather than treat this as a late breakfast, because the shop opens at 5.30am and closes at 2pm. [image: 1789821368389-cafe-stall.jpeg] DayakDaily Swee Sen's identity is less about a single signature topping than about continuity. Cheng still prepares for the day from around 2.30am, while the next generation of the family has learned the noodle trade. That makes the stop worthwhile for visitors who want to see how a Kota Padawan kopitiam carries a working food tradition forward, not just a bowl with a famous name. Swee Sen Cafe is at 33, Jalan Penrissen, Kota Padawan, Kuching, and operates daily from 5.30am to 2pm. Open Swee Sen Cafe in Google Maps If I were planning the route, I would make this the first stop of the morning and keep the order focused: start with kolo mee, then add another noodle or seafood option only if the table still wants to explore.

Before most of RH Plaza's lunch crowd arrives, Jin Liew is already working through the parts of barbecue that cannot be rushed: choosing fresh meat, marinating it and building the charcoal heat. At Belly+ Kopitiam, that early routine becomes Hong Kong-style roasted pork, duck and chicken with savoury rice and a signature sauce. [image: 1789807360926-p1.jpeg] Source — DayakDaily Jin learned the craft from friends in Kuala Lumpur, then brought the method to Kuching and kept it hands-on for more than 15 years. The texture he is chasing is specific: crisp skin outside, tender meat inside, with the charcoal smoke carrying the aroma beyond the plate. [image: 1789807361129-p2.jpeg] Source — DayakDaily I would start with whichever roasted meat is freshest that morning, then use the sauce and savoury rice as the steady base rather than ordering by name alone. The stall serves daily from 7am to 2pm, except every other Monday, so breakfast or an early lunch is the safer plan. Hong Kong Style BBQ Belly+ Kopitiam, RH Plaza Commercial Centre, Kuching, Sarawak Open Hong Kong Style BBQ in Google Maps This is a useful stop when you want a familiar kopitiam plate with a clear technique behind it: charcoal, marinade and timing. The trade-off is simple—come early for the full choice, because a stall built around fresh daily preparation is not a late-afternoon barbecue stop.

At the foyer of Ban Hua Motor in BDC Commercial Centre, a small frying station turns a motorcycle-repair stop into a morning snack detour. Tan's Heng Hua kuih goreng comes from his grandmother's 70-year-old recipe, with vegetable, sweet potato and peanut fritters prepared fresh rather than pulled from a display case. [image: 1789735020710-p2.jpeg] Source — DayakDaily The setup is part of the story. Tan started operating here in December, with his brother's permission to use the shop frontage, and prepares the snacks by 7am. Customers waiting for motorcycle repairs can watch the frying, while anyone passing through BDC can pick up a small box for the road. [image: 1789735021424-p3.jpeg] Source — DayakDaily The four named options are Kuih Ubi Kacang, Kuih Ubi Manis, Kuih Sayur Kacang and Kuih Sayur. I would mix the peanut and vegetable versions first: the former gives the snack its nuttier character, while the latter keeps the crunchy fried texture but adds a savoury bite. The stall opens daily from 7am to 10am except public holidays, so this is a morning-only stop. Tan's Heng Hua Kuih Goreng Foyer of Ban Hua Motor, BDC Commercial Centre, Kuching Open Tan's Heng Hua Kuih Goreng in Google Maps For a short Kuching breakfast route, this is the kind of stall worth pairing with a nearby coffee stop: a small portion, a visible frying process and a family recipe with a clear reason for being here.

For a morning bowl with a little more weight than a quick noodle stop, Mak Siti Jia Jia's Mee Jawa at Jia Jia Court, RH Plaza, is the dish to look for. The bowl comes with egg noodles, chicken thigh and boiled egg in a thick gravy built from sweet potato, prawn stock and meat stock. I would arrive early if lunch is the plan, because the stall also turns out cooked Malay dishes for the midday crowd. [image: 1789734990816-p4.jpeg] Source — DayakDaily The stall's story is unusually specific: Mak Siti has been serving at Jia Jia Court for 17 years, after first selling food and kuih from a roadside stall around Kota Sentosa. Her kitchen experience stretches beyond that current address, and the Mee Jawa is the clearest expression of the sweet, savoury and mildly spicy gravy she developed through years of cooking. [image: 1789734991153-p3.jpeg] Source — DayakDaily Breakfast choices also include Mee Kolok and Bee Hoon Goreng, while lunch leans towards rice with dishes such as Ayam Masak Merah and Ikan Tongkol Masak Kari. The stall is open daily from 6am to 2pm except Sunday, so I would treat it as a breakfast-to-lunch stop rather than a late afternoon option. Mak Siti Jia Jia Jia Jia Court, RH Plaza, Kuching Open Mak Siti Jia Jia in Google Maps If you want one bowl that explains why this stall has stayed part of the court's daily rhythm, start with the Mee Jawa; the other dishes make it practical for a group with different appetites.

A short drive from Kuching to Bau changes the laksa question from where to find a familiar bowl to what can make that bowl belong to a new town. At Lala Laksa Kopitiam in Seringgok Commercial Centre, the answer is crispy chicken skin, developed from owner Nur Nabila Norazni's habit of eating fried chicken with laksa and refined after friends tested the combination. [image: 1789715191327-man3.jpg] Source — New Sarawak Tribune The stall began as Lala Laksa Gold at Café 98 and grew into a full kopitiam after support from diners in Bau and visitors from Kuching and Miri. This is a local breakfast business bringing the Kuching-style morning ritual closer to Bau, with its own texture-led signature rather than a generic noodle-shop topping. [image: 1789715191431-man4.jpg] Source — New Sarawak Tribune The signature bowl pairs creamy, savoury Sarawak laksa broth with crisp chicken skin. I would start there to understand the shop's identity; regular laksa, mee kolok, nasi ayam penyet and kaya butter toast make the kopitiam easier for a mixed group, but the chicken-skin version is the reason to detour. The feature describes the Muslim-owned shop's laksa as halal. Lala Laksa Kopitiam Seringgok Commercial Centre, Bau, Sarawak Open Lala Laksa Kopitiam in Google Maps Go for the laksa chicken skin when you want a texture contrast and a Bau breakfast stop with a specific origin story. If you prefer a traditional bowl, order regular laksa; that is the clearer trade-off than treating every item on the expanded menu as equally central.

A Kuching breakfast route feels different when it follows a family recipe. At Goh Cafe on Jalan Rubber, cucur udang carries a story that began at the old Rex Cinema in 1967. [image: 1789621293583-p2.jpeg] Source — DayakDaily The signature prawn fritters come with Goh's chilli sauce and ground nuts. Goh Thing Chai now leads the family business at its newer premises; the family previously operated near the old Satok market for 45 years before moving when the lease neared its end. Along Jalan Padungan, Chai Song Soon Cafe carries a family food story that began in 1958. Its pork leg rice connects the cafe's long neighbourhood history with today's breakfast crowd. In Green Heights, Ah Eng’s stall gives fried kueh tiaw a richer local angle: fresh duck eggs are folded through the noodles with leek, clams, prawns and bean sprouts. The plate is the newer favourite beside her Foochow signature, ding bian hu. [image: 1789613624363-p2.jpeg] Source — DayakDaily Tiong Sui Eng, known as Ah Eng, brings 15 years of cooking experience and a family background spanning three generations of kitchen craftsmen. [image: 1789613624434-p3.jpeg] Source — DayakDaily The stall’s other anchor is ding bian hu, thin rice-batter noodles in a seafood-based broth with dried mushrooms and pork. A lunch stop in BDC is worth planning around the small-batch barbecue at Ah Fook BBQ Stall in C3 Cafe. Chong Teck Fook, known as Ah Fook, has spent more than a decade refining the family-inspired recipes behind his barbecue dishes. [image: 1789612196349-p2.jpeg] Source — DayakDaily The signature barbecue sesame chicken comes with bok choy, rice and a light salted broth, finished with gula apong. It is the clearest starting point for understanding what makes this stall specific: a familiar barbecue plate shaped by sesame, palm-sugar sweetness and a carefully balanced side. [image: 1789612196437-p3.jpeg] Source — DayakDaily Ah Fook keeps daily preparation limited to protect quality and reduce waste, so late arrivals may find the sesame chicken sold out. When a Kuching food walk reaches Ewe Hai Street, JAK MA'AN gives the old city centre a distinctly Bidayuh stop. The restaurant was built around a simple idea: bring village flavours into a city dining room while keeping the food connected to the people and places that shaped it. [image: 1789610832046-midin.jpg] Source — PianoFortePhilia Midin, the young jungle fern, is one of Sarawak's clearest seasonal signatures. The photographed plate keeps the focus on the curled fern and garlic rather than burying it under a heavy sauce. It is a useful first order for visitors who want to understand the ingredient before moving to the restaurant's more substantial dishes. [image: 1789610832157-ayam-pansuh.jpg] Source — PianoFortePhilia Ayam Pansuh is the other defining stop: chicken cooked in bamboo, presented as part of the Bidayuh table rather than as a generic grilled-chicken dish. The restaurant's story is tied to Magdalene Rosalind Crocker and Nick Jansen, who set out to preserve Bidayuh food culture in the city. Their approach also includes village-linked supplies such as tempoyak and traditional drinks, keeping the cultural story connected to sourcing as well as recipes. [image: 1789610832231-location.jpg] Source — PianoFortePhilia That makes JAK MA'AN a good pairing with a Carpenter Street heritage walk: the location is central, but the meal points beyond the tourist core to Bidayuh ingredients, memory and technique. The dining room's village-inspired details reinforce that bridge. Visitors can share the fern and bamboo-cooked chicken, then ask what seasonal Bidayuh dish is available that day rather than treating the menu as a standard city-centre checklist. JAK MA'AN Bidayuh Cuisine 85 Ewe Hai Street, 93000 Kuching, Sarawak Open JAK MA'AN in Google Maps For a first taste of Bidayuh food in Kuching, this is the kind of stop that earns time at the table: midin shows the ingredient, while Ayam Pansuh carries the cooking tradition. Some Kuching laksa stories are really relocation stories. Ah Mui Laksa was previously served from the Foody Goody Cafe stall; from 29 October 2025, the laksa moved to its own Madam Mui Laksa & Kopitiam at Jalan Rubber in Satok. [image: 1789609438846-candidate1.jpg] Facebook / Chang Lam Photography The important detail for returning customers is that this is not a completely unrelated new laksa shop. It is the Ah Mui laksa people knew from Foody Goody, now operating from Lot 434 & 435, Jalan Rubber, Satok. The move gives the bowl a new stop on the map, so anyone searching by the old Foody Goody location may miss it. [image: 1789609438896-candidate5.jpg] Facebook / Chang Lam Photography The focus here is the Sarawak Laksa: vermicelli in the familiar spiced broth, topped with prawns, shredded chicken, egg and herbs. I would treat Madam Mui as a laksa stop first, especially if you are trying to relocate the old Foody Goody bowl rather than browse a large menu. [image: 1789609438943-candidate4.jpg] Facebook / Madam Mui Laksa Madam Mui Laksa & Kopitiam Lot 434 & 435, Jalan Rubber, Satok, 93400 Kuching, Sarawak Open in Google Maps If you have been looking for Ah Mui Laksa at Foody Goody, update the destination to Jalan Rubber before heading out.

At Wisma Saberkas, the useful question before work is not whether you want noodles, but which family recipe you want in the bowl. Ryan Phang's stall at SG 21 Cafe keeps the choice broad with 12 noodle dishes, while the breakfast rush is already building around the office-worker crowd. [image: 1789355226685-p1.jpg] Source: DayakDaily Phang's kolo mee and kampua mee are not dishes he assembled from a generic stall playbook. He says the foundation comes from his mother, who still prepares the ingredients, while his Hakka-Chinese maternal family has always treated savoury cooking, pastries and festive biscuits as part of home life. That makes the stall feel like a first public outing for a family kitchen rather than a sudden career experiment. [image: 1789355226764-p2.jpg] Source: DayakDaily The route into the cafe was family-shaped too. His older brother had operated a chicken rice stall in the same busy eatery before moving to Singapore, and that experience convinced Ryan the steady stream of workers and shoppers could support another local-food counter. Alongside the two headline bowls, he serves kuih tiaw and mee tikus; prices reported for the range are RM5 to RM11. I would start with the kolo mee if you want the most recognisable Kuching profile, then choose kampua mee when you prefer a plainer, springy noodle with a different regional identity. Come for breakfast or early morning if you want the fullest choice, since the stall is busiest before office workers begin their day. Ryan Phang's noodle stall is at SG 21 Cafe, ground floor, Wisma Saberkas, Kuching. It operates daily except Saturday and Sunday. Open in Google Maps

Yeow Kee Kopitiam on Jalan Kempas is already busy with the morning trade when the Lau family's Foochow Delight soup stall starts serving. The stall has operated from the same kopitiam for about 15 years, making it a useful stop for people who want a traditional-style bowl without turning breakfast into a long outing. This is a family succession story rather than just another noodle listing. Karen Lau learnt the cooking side from her father, a former restaurant chef, and now runs the stall with Eugene Tan. The family is trying to keep the broth and fish-maw dishes going as the founder steps back. The most distinctive choice is the soup range: fish maw with fish balls, bean-curd skin or bee hoon, finished in a savoury broth. Ding Bian Hu is the sensible first order if you want a flatter rice-noodle soup with fish balls, minced pork and wood-ear mushrooms. The kolo mee uses vinegar for a sharper sour-salty finish instead of the red-oil profile found at many stalls. Add the Zheng mixed pork soup or a morning char siew pau if you want to see why regulars treat this as a set breakfast rather than a single bowl. For a first visit, go early and decide whether you prefer the lighter soup route or the more distinctive vinegar noodle. The shop's history and the cooking details are what make this stop different from a generic kopitiam recommendation; current hours and availability should still be checked before travelling.

Ho Pheng Corner cafe in Taman Desa Wira is usually still waking up when the first clang of a wok rings out from the back. Before the early breakfast crowd begins to arrive, 26-year-old Bryan Tian is already at his frying station, and he jokes that his wok is like a school bell - only instead of calling students to class, it announces that the first orders have started coming in. [image: 1789205389253-p1.jpeg] Source: DayakDaily — Bryan Tian at his frying station Tian did not start out as his own boss. After leaving school, he spent three years as an intern at a local Kuching eatery, learning noodle work and kitchen management, before his employers gave him their blessing to open his own station. He left on good terms and built his stall at the back of Ho Pheng Corner, where the cafe's regulars have since made him part of the neighbourhood's morning routine. His board runs on the usual trio - mee kuning (yellow noodles), bee hoon and kueh tiaw - but the plate people keep returning for is his Cantonese-style fried kueh tiaw. It is also the one he encourages you to push further: ask for prawns or crab meat and he will fold them in, adjusting the portion to whatever you tell him when you order. [image: 1789205389742-p2.jpeg] Source: DayakDaily — fried kueh tiaw and Cantonese-style kueh tiaw at Bryan Tian's stall His own recommendation is quieter but just as telling: a Foochow-style noodle dish in savoury broth, lifted by a few drops of Chinese wine at the end. Ask for tomato noodles in Bau town and the answer keeps coming back to the same corner: Luk Kol Fook Food Corner in the Senggi-Poak Land District. Locals have two names for the plate — 'Mee Sos', noodles with sauce, or 'Mee Dawai', barbed-wire noodles — and both describe the same sight: a nest of crispy-fried noodles resting in a pool of velvety tomato sauce, stacked with crunchy homemade crispy pork belly and tender char siew. [image: 1789197392023-mee-sos-special.jpg] Source: DayakDaily — Mee Sos Special at Luk Kol Fook Food Corner Behind the counter is 36-year-old Liew Shan Lip, who looks nothing like a typical kopitiam uncle. The roast recipe he works with today came from her — she marinates, he roasts — on a base he learned from his mother and then improvised over time. The first outlet, Luk Kol Fook Cafe on Jalan Ong Guan Cheng in Bau, is still run by his sister and sister-in-law. Even the name is family history: his parents took it from a chocolate-powder brand that came from China, and the Chinese characters happen to read as a wish for happiness and good fortune. [image: 1789197392573-food-corner-bau.jpg] Source: DayakDaily — Luk Kol Fook Food Corner in Bau The house rule, put simply, is quality over margin. On the tomato noodles, the fried nest stays crackly until the sauce soaks in, and the tart-sweet tomato pool is what makes the plate feel unmistakably Sarawak. If you are heading to Bau, I would time this for a weekday morning and let the meal sit at the centre of the day trip. The shop opens every day except Tuesdays, from around 7am to about 4pm, and the tomato-noodle special with crispy pork belly and char siew is the order that explains why people drive out here for breakfast. A little after seven in the morning, the steam is already rolling off the noodle boiler at 73 Ewe Hai Street, in the narrow lanes behind Carpenter Street. On the wall of this small kopitiam hangs a framed business licence from the British administration era — Kim Joo has been at this address since 1958, and the regulars ordering their 'special' without looking up are on the third generation of doing so. The kopitiam did not start with noodles. Lai Jit Lai, the grandson who now runs the noodle station, says the shop originally poured hot drinks and toasted bread for its morning trade. It was his mother — a Teochew and, in his words, a real food maestro — who brought in the noodle dishes about sixty years ago, and she cooked them for three decades before he took over. Somewhere along the way the shop's name became the dish's name: in this corner of the old town, folk just say 'Kim Joo' and the bowl is understood. What the regulars come for is the kolo mee 'special' — springy noodles with a sharper, sour-salty finish, because this kitchen finishes with vinegar where most stalls use red oil. Travellers notice the same thing in their reviews: 'a bit sour taste but acceptable.' If that first bite catches you off guard, follow it with the 'Zheng', the mixed pork soup with offal that Kuchingites order as the classic pairing, and one of the handmade char siew pau steamed fresh each morning. Breakfast here is less a menu than a sequence. Lai's rules are simple and he does not bend them: the water in the boiler is changed constantly through the day, the lard mixed into the noodles is never more than two days old, and the salted vegetables were dropped from the broth years ago because they made it too salty. He credits the discipline to a stint with a Japanese company and keeps the stamina for a hot noodle station with early swims and years of tai chi. Kim Joo sits right behind the heritage shopfronts of Carpenter Street and opens daily from 6:30am until about 2pm except Mondays. If it is your first visit, I would start with the special, a char siew pau, and a bowl of Zheng, then give the vinegar a moment — it is the house signature, unchanged across three generations. At a few minutes past five in the evening, the dough starts flying at Good Taste Food Court in Hui Sing Commercial Centre. The man behind the counter tosses a soft lump, slaps it against the worktop, and keeps stretching until it is almost translucent before it lands on the hot pan and turns golden. This is how every evening begins for Arumugam Ramanair, who locals simply call Pak Tam — and it has looked like this at this food court for 23 years, longer than any other vendor here. [image: 1789182843548-roti_p1.jpg] Source: DayakDaily Arumugam's craft did not start at a stall. He grew up around Indian cooking — his father and grandfather were both skilled in the kitchen, and festival meals at home always meant fresh rotis, curries, sweets and puddings. Even so, he did not cook for a living until he was 26, after a spell as a house painter, when he realised he already had the skills to make it work. At that time only a handful of Indian roti canai stalls operated in the city, so he took the chance. The signature here is the crispy roti canai: stretched paper-thin, pan-fried to a golden crunch and served with a mildly spiced, aromatic curry gravy. Regular customers say watching the preparation is half the experience — a quick, precise performance that has made Pak Tam something of a fixture for Hui Sing regulars. The menu also covers chicken, beef and sardine murtabak, Indian rojak, mee jawa, mee kari, nasi lemak and nasi goreng, with most items between RM1.50 and RM10. Arumugam's wife, a Bidayuh from Bau, now does most of the cooking, drawing on the same family kitchen traditions, and their four children pitch in whenever they are free. He admits the recipes differ from what West Malaysians or Indians back home might expect — but regulars keep coming back for exactly that home-style version. Parking follows the usual shop-house arrangement along Lorong Hui Sing 3, and this is an ideal stop to combine with other stalls in the food court if you are eating with someone who wants variety. Just note the stall runs on evening hours — come after five, not at lunch. Pak Tam's Roti Canai is inside Good Taste Food Court, Ground Floor Lot 2114 & 2115, Blk 16, Lorong Hui Sing 3, Jalan Stampin, Taman Hui Sing, 93350 Kuching, open daily from 5pm to 10pm.
