A Bomba helicopter left Miri for the Long Lellang crash site at 11.06am on Wednesday after heavy rain delayed the operation.
The flight to Long Lellang STOLport is expected to take about an hour. A police team that travelled by road overnight had reached the village by 11am and was expected to continue towards the site.
The deployment follows Tuesday afternoon’s crash involving a Flying Doctor Service helicopter in Ulu Baram. DayakDaily reported earlier that 21 personnel from Bomba, police, Layang-Layang Aerospace and Malaysia Airports were being prepared in stages, with a forensic team due to follow the operations group.
The condition and identities of those on board were still being confirmed in the latest reports, apart from one medical officer whose identity had been confirmed to her family. Sarawak police are expected to provide a further update at a press conference in Miri at 4pm.

一架执行飞医服务的直升机周二下午在砂拉越北部长勒朗机场附近降落时坠毁，初步消息指机上有一名机师、一名医生、一名医务助理及两名护士。
这架由 Layang Layang Aerospace 营运的 BO105C 型直升机，约下午3时32分在长勒朗短距起降机场04号跑道末端发生事故。马来西亚民航局（CAAM）说，当局于下午3时58分接获飞行信息服务中心通报。

Five people — a pilot, a doctor, a medical assistant and two nurses — were believed to be aboard a Flying Doctor Service helicopter that crashed while landing near Long Lellang in northern Sarawak on Tuesday afternoon.
The Layang Layang Aerospace-operated BO105C came down near the Long Lellang Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) airport at about 3.32pm, at the end of Runway 04, according to preliminary reports. The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) said it received notification from the Flight Information Service at 3.58pm.
A later local report said personnel at the scene reported five casualties at about 4.50pm, but the condition of those on board had not been officially confirmed at press time. The names circulating in early reports also remained unconfirmed by the relevant authorities.
The Air Accident Investigation Bureau under the Transport Ministry will investigate the crash under Part XXVI of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016. Further updates from CAAM, rescue agencies and the investigation team are needed before the outcome is clear.

At dawn, Song Corner is already moving while Jackson Goh is serving the kind of breakfast that does not need a long explanation: a hot bowl of rice porridge. Uncle Goh Porridge has been part of Kuching mornings for 17 years, but its story began with a late change of direction.
Goh left the construction business and turned to cooking before he was 58. He learned through traditional knowledge, advice from friends and plenty of trial and error, gradually adjusting the recipe to suit the people who came back for breakfast. The stall started at a food court along Jalan Tun Jugah in 2009, then moved to Song Corner in Tabuan Heights about a decade ago.
The shredded chicken porridge is the clear starting point: it is the stated favourite and costs RM5 a bowl. Pork and chicken options keep the menu familiar rather than elaborate, which is exactly the point for an early workday meal. I would choose it when I want something light but filling, especially before a busy morning; the stall serves from 6am to noon and closes on Thursdays.

Temporary Sarawak Energy billing help desks are next headed to Sibu, Bintulu and Miri, with the rollout expected to run through October.
The utility began with a counter at Wisma SESCO in Kuching from Sept 2 to 4. The travelling service is for customers who want staff to go through account records, bill amounts or meter readings face to face.
Sarawak Energy said it traced 22 billing concerns raised on Facebook. Staff have contacted 20 users; one case is still being followed up, while another user could not be identified from the post.

Lundu and Serian recorded hazardous air quality early Tuesday, as haze conditions worsened across Sarawak.
Readings at 6am put Lundu at API 329 and Serian at 303. Kuching was at 241, with Samarahan at 239, Tebedu at 242, Sri Aman at 230 and Lubok Antu at 212 — all in the very unhealthy range.
The latest figures mark a sharp deterioration from Monday: Lundu had been at 260 at noon, while Serian rose from 222 to 303. Other stations, including Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu, Miri and Betong, remained unhealthy.

A first plate of belacan bee hoon is not a quiet introduction to Kuching. The fermented shrimp paste announces itself before the rice vermicelli arrives, which is exactly why No.4 Belachan Bee Hoon, Cuttle Fish & Kang Kong at Song Kheng Hai is worth approaching with an appetite and an open mind.
This stall's story is more specific than a generic hawker-centre recommendation. The recipe came through the operator's father-in-law, who sold belacan bee hoon around the KMC Flats before the family moved into the food centre. The broth is not a quick pour: the belacan is roasted, blended with herbs and simmered for up to four hours, then balanced with palm sugar and chilli sauce.
The normal set is the sensible starting point; add the century egg version if you want the richer RM8 plate. I would keep the supplied chilli, palm-sugar sauce or vinegar nearby, because the dish is deliberately pungent and the condiments let you move it from salty-fermented to sweeter, sharper or hotter. Sotong kangkung is the natural side order.

Serian’s haze emergency is over, but air quality remains poor in parts of Sarawak.
The Prime Minister’s Office said on Sept 7 that the King had consented to end the declaration after Serian’s latest API readings fell out of the hazardous range. The emergency was declared on Sept 4, when the index went above 500.
That decision does not mark the end of the haze episode. Kota Samarahan recorded an API reading of 226 at 8am, and several other areas were still in the very unhealthy band. Conditions may shift with wind direction and hotspot activity.

A hot Kuching afternoon is exactly when a bowl of shaved ice stops being a side order and becomes the reason to pause. At Swee Kang Ais Kacang, that pause carries a family story: Chang Swee Kang chose shaved ice in the early 1950s rather than take over the family kueh chap work, because he did not want long hours in a hot kitchen.
The name stayed with the dessert as the business moved from the old market area, to a house on Jalan Haji Taha, and then into the current cafe in 2009. His daughter Chang Miaw Choo now helps carry it forward, while nieces and nephews continue the hands-on work. That continuity explains why “Swee Kang” is more than a shop sign to regulars: the family says the taste has stayed nearly the same even as ingredient quality has changed over the decades.
Start with the ais kacang or cendol, then consider the coconut-based White Lady if you want something creamier. The wider cafe also serves rojak buah, mee hoon belacan, laksa, mee goreng apong, lok-lok and umai jelly, so this works better as a light local-food stop than a single-dessert mission. I would come in the afternoon, but keep the Tuesday closure and 12pm–6:30pm hours in mind.

Owen Wen started the stall in 2021 after the Movement Control Order, bringing 18 years of bakery experience into fresh patties, vegetables and homemade sauces. This is a small operation built around preparation and repetition, not a long menu of shortcuts.
