Sarawak has won the bid to host INTERHASH 2028, the global gathering of the Hash House Harriers community, set to take place in Kuching from July 14 to 16, 2028.

Tourism Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah announced that the event is expected to draw up to 4,000 participants from over 450 HH chapters worldwide, generating an estimated RM12 million in tourism receipts for the state.

The biennial gathering features four running categories:

• Ball Breaker Run — 26-28km endurance challenge
• Long Run — 7-10km
• Medium Run — 5-7km
• Short Run — 3-5km

Participants will also take part in a Red Dress Run Charity Run a day before the main event, with proceeds going to local welfare bodies.

The organising committee, led by Kuching City Hash Club, will run international promotional campaigns over the next two years through major hash events and global roadshows.

Abdul Karim called it a proud milestone for Sarawak, giving the state a chance to showcase its unique culture and adventure tourism to a global audience.
